Artist statement
Identity and how experiences shape your perceptions of the world is a central idea that runs through my work. I utilize figurative narratives to explore this. My operate somewhere between cubism and expressionism, employing a combination of styles and materials, mostly acrylic and pastel to create highly textural, emotive figures. The subjects in the work are inspired by Central American folklore and informed by a queer Latinx perspective.
